UWE Bristol Scholarships for International Postgraduate Students_2019


UWE Bristol has a wide range of scholarships for international postgraduate students but in order to apply for any of them, you must have already received an offer to study at UWE Bristol. So, it’s importantthat you remember to apply early to ensure your scholarship application isconsidered.

The various scholarships are as follows:

Non-programme specific scholarships

Chancellor’s Scholarship / Millennium scholarship:

Recipient must undertake an internship working within the international office or other departments. Other than this, they would also have to undertake ambassadorial activity for the university throughout the duration of the course.

After graduation, the recipient is expected to be an active member of the UWE Bristol alumni network by promoting its programmes to prospective students.

Scholarship value – 50% tuition fees

Duration – One academic year

Number of scholarship available – One for January 2019 start

Eligibility criteria – 

  • have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st in an undergraduate degree
  • hold an unconditional offer or a conditional offer where IELTS or equivalent English language is the only condition
  • be a new student to UWE Bristol with no previous UK study
  • be classed as overseas for fees purposes
  • not be a sponsored student or in receipt of another scholarship/award
  • provide official transcripts at the time of application.

Application Deadlines – The application deadline for the January 2019 scholarship is Wednesday 31 October 2018

Programme-specific scholarships

Master of Business Administration (MBA) / MSc International Management scholarship

The recipient would be expected to act as an ambassador for the program during or after the completion of their programme. This would consist of providing a video and/or written summary of their experiences which would be used for promotional purposes. The recipient would also have to attend information events, act as a student reference for the programme, and answer the queries of prospective students.

Scholarship value – 50% tuition fees

Duration – One academic year

Number of scholarship available – One for January 2019 start

Eligibility criteria – 

  • have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st or 2:1 in an undergraduate degree
  • hold an unconditional offer or a conditional offer where IELTS or equivalent English language is the only condition
  • be a new student to UWE Bristol with no previous UK study
  • be classed as overseas for fees purposes
  • not be a sponsored student or in receipt of another scholarship/award
  • provide official transcripts at the time of application
  • Note for successful candidates: you will need to prove when accepting the
  • Scholarship that you satisfy the UKVI criteria in terms of being able to cover living costs and the remainder of the fee.

Application Deadlines – The submission deadline is 31 October 2018 for those starting the programme in January 2019.

How to apply for MBA scholarship –  Application for MBA (full-time) can be completed online by selecting the ‘Apply for this course’ option on the webpage. To be considered for the scholarship, the applicants must clearly address these three questions in their statement:

  1. Why you consider the MBA, and not another programme, will help you in your future professional development?
  2. How the Bristol MBA will contribute to the business sector/industry of your expertise or the entrepreneurial endeavors you are involved in or going to be involved in?
  3. In which way you imagine yourself contributing to the Bristol MBA community during and after graduation?

 Applicant should clearly write and save the document as “Personal Statement for MBA (Full-time) Scholarship” before uploading via their welcome portal.

How to apply for MSc International Management scholarship – Application for MSc International Management can be completed online by selecting the ‘Apply for this course’ option on the webpage. In your personal statement (which is part of your application) state why you believe you have the potential for:

  1. Becoming an outstanding professional –  Support your argument with examples of your accomplishments, including responsibilities, achievements, and voluntary activities. If you do not yet have employment experience, these may relate to school and university. If you already have employment experience, you should also – or instead – give evidence of accomplishments in your career to date.
  2. Representing UWE Bristol effectively in your home country on your return – You must show that you understand how you can represent the university effectively and imaginatively on return to your home country. We also look for evidence of leadership, influencing and networking skills, and interest and experience in playing public-facing roles.
  3. Contributing to the quality of other students’ experience on your programme – An important part of being a UWE Bristol scholar is enhancing other students’ experience on your course, so you should show evidence of active commitment to others’ well-being and development in your life and/or career so far.

You need to address these three points in your personal statement along with an explanation of why you wish to study MSc International Management.

Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences MSc Scholarship

Number of scholarship available – Three for September 2019 or January 2020 start dates

Eligibility criteria – 

  • have achieved the equivalent of a British 1st or 2:1 in an undergraduate degree
  • hold an unconditional offer or a conditional offer where IELTS or equivalent English language is the only condition
  • be a new student to UWE Bristol with no previous UK study
  • be classed as overseas for fees purposes
  • not be a sponsored student or in receipt of another scholarship/award
  • provide official transcripts at the time of application
  • Note for successful candidates: you will need to prove when accepting the
  • Scholarship that you satisfy the UKVI criteria in terms of being able to cover living costs and the remainder of the fee.

Application Deadline – The submission deadline is 28 April 2019. Your application will be assessed by a Faculty panel that includes the programme leader, and candidates will be informed of the final decision by 31 May 2019.

How to apply  –  Application for the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences MSc scholarships can be completed online by selecting the ‘Apply for this course’ option on the webpage. In your personal statement (which is part of your application) the applicants need to cover the following points:

  • What potential you have for outstanding performance on the programme – please note that this will be assessed both through evidence of your academic record to date and the quality of your written application.
  • What potential you have to become an outstanding professional in your selected subject area, and how your work experience to date points to exceptional achievements in relation to interests outside formal education.
  • How you show potential for being an effective ambassador for UWE Bristol when you return to your home country. You should show a grasp of British universities’ agenda overseas and of successful ways of influencing potential audiences.
  • How you show concern for other students on your programme, evidencing contribution of a kind that is likely to enrich their experiences and not just your own.

They should clearly write and save the document as “Personal Statement for the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences MSc (International) Scholarship” before uploading via their welcome portal.

Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences Dean’s Scholarship

The scholarship is available to the applicants from a country that has recently been subjected to a significant adverse environmental, health or security impact and its alleviation relates to the subject area of the selected MSc programme.

Recipients must undertake an internship working within the international office or other departments. Other than this, they would also have to undertake ambassadorial activity for the university throughout the duration of the course.

After graduation, the recipients are expected to be an active member of the UWE Bristol alumni network by promoting its programmes to prospective students.

Scholarship Value – 100% tuition fees

Duration – One academic year

Eligible Programmes
